Appointments

Appointments System

Consultations are by appointment and can be booked up to 4 weeks in advance. Please call in to the surgery or telephone 01522 537944 after 08:00. Pre-bookable appointments are offered with your preferred GP. These can also be booked on-line.

The Practice runs a GP led triage system on Mondays and the day following a Bank Holiday for all on the day appointments. For the rest of the week Reception will allocate appointments as appropriate.

URGENT cases will of course be seen as soon as possible without an appointment however the Practice does not operate a Walk-in Service.

Extended Practice Opening Hours

The Practice is open on Wednesday evenings until 20:00 for patients registered at Newark Road Surgery.

8 – 8 Opening Service

The 8-8 opening service is provided by the 6 Practices in the Optimus Healthcare Federation. These Practices offer appointments with a GP or other Clinician each weekday between 18:30 and 20:00.

There is also a 1 hour GP only service every Saturday and Sunday and on every Bank Holiday. These appointments are all open to any patient registered with the Optimus Practices and so despite Newark Road Surgery opening every Wednesday evening and Saturdays/Sundays on a rota basis with the other Practices, you can still book an appointment at any of the other Practices where you will be seen by that Practice's clinicians.

You will only be offered one of the appointments, however if your issue is routine and you give consent for the clinicians at the Practice you have booked with to see your medical record. They will however only be able to see your record up to midnight of the day you attend.

Home Visits

If possible please try to telephone reception between 08:30 - 10:00 if you require a home visit.

You may only request a home visit if you are housebound or are too ill to visit the practice. Your GP will only visit you at home if they think that your medical condition requires it and will also decide how urgently a visit is needed. In this respect please give the receptionist as much information as possible to enable the doctor to prioritse visits.

You can be visited at home by a community nurse if you are referred by your GP. You should also be visited at home by a health visitor if you have recently had a baby or if you are newly registered with a GP and have a child under five years.
