Repeat Prescription Requests – Important Notice

As we continue working towards becoming more paperless, from 1st April 2026, we will no longer accept paper prescription requests. All requests must be submitted online via the NHS App or through online services. This will allow us to process your prescription request more quickly, safely and efficiently.

For the few patients who do not have access to the Internet, we will continue to accept paper prescription requests.

Heart of Lincoln Medical Group, along with many practices across the UK, is working towards becoming more paperless. To support this, we now use the Electronic Prescription Service (EPS) for all patients. This helps reduce paper use and saves the NHS millions of pounds each year.

With EPS, you will no longer receive a printed prescription. Instead, your prescription is sent electronically to the pharmacy you choose (your nominated pharmacy). This means:

  • No need to visit the practice to collect a paper prescription
  • Your medication will be ready to collect directly from your nominated pharmacy
  • Faster, safer, and more convenient access to your medicines

We have a computerised repeat prescription service. Repeat prescriptions are normally for patients with long-term conditions who receive regular treatment. Your doctor will decide who can have a repeat prescription.

From time to time we will ask you to see your doctor to review your medication. We do this to monitor your illness and medication.

You can request your medication 7 days before it is due.

You can order a repeat prescription:

  • via NHS App - download the NHS App on your smartphone or tablet via the Google play or App store.
  • via SystmOnline - you will need to ensure you have registered for this. See the box on right hand side for further information.
  • by dropping your prescription slip into the Practice when Reception is open, there is also an external post box when the Practice is closed.
  • by visiting the Practice and completing a prescription request form.

Prescription requests take 72 hours (not including weekends and bank holidays) to be processed by the Practice then approximately 48 hours to be ready at the Pharmacy. Therefore please allow 5 working days before attempting to collect your prescription from the Pharmacy.
